A Big Month (Or Two)

We have not posted recently with a number of things going on, so I thought it would be a good idea to let you know what has been filling our thoughts and time over the last couple months.

Visa changes: when we found out in February that a teaching visa was not possible for the coming year we weren't sure what to do. But we met someone on our visit to Palembang (we were there Mar 5-9) who was willing to help. We were in Singapore (one of our favorite places) for a week saying good-bye to Angie's parents and changing visas, so now we are back in Bengkulu on new visas. These are only good for six months (with some effort) but will allow us to focus on building for the future.

Visited Bali: we probably should post some pictures of our time in Bali - we stayed out of the way in a beautiful area and had a good time. Angie and the kids were there for two weeks and Sean joined them for about ten days.

Moved house: Most recently, we had to move house after returning to Bengkulu. While we

were gone our landlord's house burned down so they needed the one we had been renting. Our contract ended in May anyway so we thought the best way to help them was to find another place and move quickly. We weren't sure how quickly that could happen - it was hard to find a house last year - but it all went quickly. They were highly motivated and helped a lot (along with their family and friends).

Coming Up: In mid-June a group from the US comes for two weeks as a sort of trial ethno-tourism trip. So the weeks before that will be filled with preparations for that trip. Sean will be on the road for a week or more in mid-May (to Lubuklinggau and Palembang) making preparations for that visit.

Thanks for your interest in what is going on here - we'll put together some more interesting posts soon!
